Todays layout for sketchabilities is a bit different. Most of it was made while I was working on a booth at a craft show. The owner, a dear stamping friend of mine, sells her own stamps (some of them with my designs) and basic stamping equipment.

Because on each craft show there are so many people new to stamping I keep doing demos with the most elemental technique of all: Embossing. We also sold Brilliance and StazOn stamp pads, what is a nice coincidence: These are my favourites! For more english please scroll down.

We had to work with this amazing sketch by Karan Gerber:
I started painting the prepared canvas with the ‚direct-to-paper‘ technique and Brilliance/StazOn. You simply smear the pad to the canvas as if the pad is your loaded brush. Easy as pie. I heated the canvas to set the ink.

I randomly stamped some text to the canvas according to the given sketch.I sprayed the canvas with goosebumps from Tsukineko, embossing powder sticks to the goosebumps and gave this speckle effect after melting.

I smeared yellow StazON directly over some areas of my photo (works fine on glossy paper), I coloured and embossed (clear)  the sunglasses with a pink embossing pen and stamped some twigs and leaves with embossing onto the photo. I drew a frame to the photo with an embossing pen and powder.

Back at home I added some layers, from paper ‚waste‘, I used the wrapping of a sixpack and embossed it. Some other findings from my stash found their way to the canvas.

While playing with the canvas it came to my mind, that such a sturdy canvas can also be a jewellery display. I glued earrings from a dollar store directly to the canvas and coloured the plastic packing (man! I like that detail!)

The most fun I had on that craft show when I used all my demo stuff to work on that photo. I LOVE the detail of the sunglasses, they look like real glass after I heat embossed them with clear powder. (The outcome is not very excact, sorry for that, I was really busy on that show and worked on this photo while talking to customers….) I added a layer of goosebumps what looks a bit odd on the photo from that angle.

A funny story behind the scenes: While I relaxed in the hotel one night, I read a scrapbook magazine and saw just a similar photo in a layout, I showed it to my friend and she first thought I took the same image (from the magazine) to use it on my canvas. My picture was taken a few years ago by my daughter while we where waiting for a train to Birmingham.
