::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

First I want to thank Imagine Crafts / Tsukineko for the amazing opportunities the Artist in Residence design team is given all through the year. It is an amazing journey on the path of exploring my own creativity. Todays project may be a bit weird, but it’s so much ‚me‘: Colorful, fun and the use of household material. For me art is an expression of my very own mind. I am inspired by everyday life. Even while cooking for the family. Check out my ‚jar frame‘ in the project. I hope you have fun with it.

Material needed:

blank white canvas, prepared with gesso

Imagine Crafts Radiant Neon inks

StazOn or Memento in black (both will work)

white paper tissue (I used ‚Fantastisk‘ tissue napkins by Ikea, as available in Germany. They come in 4 layers of very thing tissue)

stamp by Viva Las VegaStamps

clear acrylic stamp block, Tack’n’Peel

creative Medium by Imagine Crafts, brush

lace, paper, Spellbinders dies, glue, jar lid, photo

To start with the project make sure your canvas is prepared with gesso. Open the folded tissue and print your stamp with ink, if the ink pad is brand new you may use less pressure. Practice on a cheap tissue until you master the technique. If you are happy with the print let dry.

Cut your image from the tissue, see image below how it will look like. The 4 layers will fall apart during the process, this is correct.

Prepare your canvas with colors! I used the ‚direct to paper‘ technique on the canvas with Radiant Neon inks. For a better understanding click on the image below to see a larger version.

Use creative medium with some lace and adhere the lace to the canvas until you are pleased with the look.

Now put the top layer (just one layer! the one with the print….) of the tissue on the canvas and place where you want it to be. Take a bit of creative medium with a brush and gently put on the tissue, while striking from center to the edge of the image. Carefully glue the tissue to the canvas until it is completely even. Let dry the lace and tissue, the tissue will become transparent when the medium is dry.

Now you can add your photos. I took an old jar lid from my recycling stash and put it on some die cuts. To bring the colors together, I used the Radiant Neons on the die cuts before glueing them under the jar lid. I choosed a black and white photo and added some orange StazOn (just smear on the photo with your pad carefully), which is optional, but this made the photo match the rest of the canvas.

vlvs_hop_04As you can see, I grew wild with adding rhinestones to the finished canvas. I always have some cheap glas jewels at hand and color them with StazOn! By using StazOn I can make all my rhinestones match my project!

The canvas will be a gift for my mom. She loves to put family pictures to her collection, no matter how crazy they are.

I think the canvas matches todays topic: Las Vegas!

It’s bright and fancy, and can you see the *BLING*?

Please note: The tissue will become perfectly clear after the creative medium has dried. This is the perfect way of ’stamping‘ on uneven surfaces and textures, like the canvas! As the close up below shows, the Radiant Neon ink sits on top of the fibre structure, but the image looks perfect and shows every detail.

Plus: You can ‚mirror‘ each and every image! Check out the man with the hat in my tutorial collage- the image with the jar lid. As you can see the newspaper he is holding on the left is different to the one on the right, it has been adhered to the canvas the other way round.
