  • blow out the eggs and clean with water, let dry

  • Make a tiny hole on top of the egg. My first eggs, the brown ones, haven’t been perfect, the white ones turned out to be perfect. Just make a tiny hole in the size of a needle on top, and a big one on the bottom. The egg yolk will come out easily, and you have a large hole to fill in the concrete.

  • Close the top hole with some tape or a drop of glue.

  • You need the creative concrete (made by Rayher, Germany), water, a spoon for stiring, a bowl (I used an old margarine box) and some cooking oil

  • Use a small amount of the oil on the inside of the egg, to make sure you can pull off the shell easily after the concrete has dried. Mix the concrete according to instructions (1 part water, 10 parts creative concrete), fill the egg with the concrete by pouring it into the bottom hole. Because you cannot fill the egg higher than the hole, it will have a flat bottom after drying. This is an advantage, because the egg will stand on its own now! I filled an egg while it was a bit leaning to one side, what created an uneven stand, and I love this effect! (bottom left egg)

  • trocknen lassen laut Anleitung.
  • Let dry according to instructions. Peel the eggs like a cooked egg, to help the shell coming off you can use a kitchen knife with care. Let dry the eggs completely.

Chalky Finish

It’s up to you how you decorate the eggs or if you want to leave them with the modern and pure concrete look. I painted them with chalk paints and two of them got a coat of metal flakes I love the outcome!

I hope you want to try this on your own. I cannot tell if the company Rayher sells the creative concrete outside of Germany. If you want to ask them, you may visit their facebook page. I cross fingers for you!

The creative concrete is frostproof! This turns it into a perfect material for garden decoration. Tell this your easter bunny!
