Deko-Accessoires-Schmuck Lyra Spellbinders

Art Deco Lantern, zu deutsch: Windlicht

Today I want to participate in the August challenge of the WOW-Blog. So much of my love for my favourite companies is based on personal contacts. WOW embossing powders mean a lot to me, because I met Archie Fyve (does he own that company? I lost the business card) on the Creativeworld in january.

It has been a while since I met this enthusiastic and funny guy, but I tried to get into contact with WOW ever since. By entering the challenge I will start using the tons and tons of embossing powder I collected for over a decade. Today I use normal copper powder. For more English please scroll down.

I used the Spellbinders die „basic lattice“ and cut the paper in another direction to achieve the horizontal grid effect. I embossed the cutout with copper powder to honour the soldering technique that has been used in the fantastic artwork of the Art Deco glass lamps of the 1920s and 30s.

Some of the details have been cut off to build a pattern in the grid. To get this glas-lamp effect I glued vellum to the back of the grid and coloured it with watercolour pens.

I like the finished lantern, and maybe I have some further ideas how to continue with decorating, it still looks a bit plain. But when I lit a candle inside, it looked just perfect! I hope you like it.
