This fiddle friday is all about next sunday. In Germany we will celebrate ‚1st Advent‘ then, what means christmas is only 4 sundays away. Each sunday, we will light another candle on the adventswreath, and each of those wreaths have 4 candles. For more English please scroll down.
Am heutigen Frickel-Freitag zeige ich euch eine kleine Idee, wie man einen Adventskranz preiswert aufpeppen kann. Letzte Woche habe ich euch gezeigt, wie man mit Verpackungs“abfall“ schöne Dinge basteln kann (hier klicken). Da ich noch mehr Reste der Allu-Schale hatte, habe ich noch ein paar Buchstaben ausgestanzt. Spellbinders sollten dringend passende Zahlen zu dem Alphabet machen, aber ich denke das ist ohnehin nur eine Frage der Zeit.
Today I was looking for a candle decoration, that won’t catch fire when the candle burns down. Aluminuim is perfect for that!
First use floral foam to add some holly to a pot or bowl. Colour (StazOn) and cut (Spellbinders) the letters from aluminium foil. Please check my tutorial from last week, click here for the blogpost.
Glue the letters to the candle. For attaching the candle to the arrangement you have to add wires to the botton. Cut some wires of the same length, two for each candle.
Hold the wire over a burning candle with a tool that can stand the heat and heat up the wire. Then press the wire into the candle bottom and repeat with another wire.
This will give you a perfect spine to attach the candle to the base, I used floral foam as a base for the whole arrangement. I don’t know if this term is correct, please let me know if there is another word for this foam.
Finish the arrangement with any decoration you like. You also can make centerpieces for any other occasion with this technique when candles are included.
Imagine a birthday arrangement with a name on the candle, or two names if you make one for a wedding! Let me know if you have any other ideas or use this inspiration for your own arrangements. |
Heute brauchte ich eine feuerfeste Dekoration für die Kerzen auf meinem Adventsgesteck. Alufolie eignet sich hervorragend dafür.
In die Blumenschale gebt ihr ausreichend Steckschaum und steckt den Ilex mit Krampen fest.
Färbt und stanzt die Buchstaben wie im Tutorial beschrieben. Auf die Kerze kleben.
Um die Kerzen in dem Gesteck zu befestigen, schneidet gleichlange Stücke von einem festen Draht ab. Zwei pro Kerze.
Diese mit einem hitzefesten Werkzeug (Zange) über eine Kerze halten, erhitzen und in die Kerze drücken, abkühlen lassen. Nun kann man die Kerzen mit den Draht“dornen“ in den Steckschaum drücken.
Dekoriert das Gesteck mit weiteren Elementen. Weihnachtsgestecke brauchen Kugeln, aber stellt euch das Ganze auch mal anders vor: Einen Namen auf die Kerze schreiben und es ist eine Tischdeko für den Geburtstagskaffee, mit zwei Namen wird ein Hochzeitsgesteck daraus!
