Are there really three capital M in that post title? Working in the fun art of mixedmedia for quite a while me and my crafty friends found one essential truth behind it all, that good old Leonardo (DaVinci, who else could it be?) teached so many years ago: True art is never finished, only abandoned. I want to call it ‚mixedmediamakeover‘, or MMM.
To really understand this, you have to do some trial and error in art or mixedmedia. Create an ugly piece and leave it for a while. Then gesso becomes your friend. Put some white gesso on top of your unloved artwork and voilà: You may create something stunning that would never have been possible without the ugly first try.

This is what happened to me when I made a canvas for teaching a basic mixedmedia technique in a video. I still like the video, but the finished piece was quite boring.
During an art retreat two weeks ago I met some lovely fellow crafters and we had lots of fun (I will tell you more about it soon). During the event we tried a new way of enhancing our creative juices. We played our favorite dancefloor songs to kick that mojo!
It worked! During one hour I made more fun art than ever before. I painted over my stupid canvas and now I love it! Please check out all the following pictures to see the transformation of my canvas. I hope you like it.

Am vorletzten Wochenende war ich zu Gast bei der zauberhaften Zizy Ziegler und ihrer Blogoase. Das Event wurde erstmals durchgeführt und einer der Programmpunkte war das „Gloryville-DIY“. Die Grundidee war, ähnlich der neuhippen Vor-Arbeitsparties, mit lauter Fetzmusik die kreativen Säfte zu locken. Und was soll ich sagen: Nach einer Tasse Kaffee und einem kleinen Snack gab es zum Frühstück meine Lieblingssongs zum Wachwerden!
Das Gloryville-DIY war bewusstseinserweiternd! Eigentlich sollte es wachmachen. Locker machen. Ich spürte jedoch zu Zeiten, an denen ich normalerweise noch müde durch den Tag schlurfe, einen ungeahnten Kreativ-Kick! Ich habe in kürzester Zeit mehr geschafft als sonst in Tagen! Es setzte ein regelrechter Flow ein, und ohne groß nachzudenken ist mir gelungen ein ungeliebtes Teil aufzupeppen.
Ich habe euch ja neulich erzählt, dass man im MixedMedia nicht traurig sein muss, wenn ein Kunstwerk daneben geht. Im Gegenteil! „Immer weitermachen“! Da es im Englischen ein so viel schöneres Wort für sowas gibt, nenne ich es auch „MixedMediaMakeover“, was soviel heisst wie eine verschönernde Verwandlung. Kürzen wir es einfach mal mit MMM ab.

Eins der Werke des Gloryville-DIY (DANKE Zizy!) war das MMM eines Namensschildes, welches ich dieses Frühjahr zum Zwecke eines Technikvideos gemacht hatte. Die Technik sieht man gut, aber gebrauchen konnte ich das Ergebnis nicht. Beim MMM wurde etwas draus, was ich nun mit Freude an die Wand hängen werde. Meine Lieblingsfarben, zu Peter Fox auf die Leinwand gematscht, plus einem alten Foto von Bärbel, fertig ist meine neue Wanddekoration.
Die Schritte des MMM seht ihr in obiger Bildcollage. Das fertig Werk seht ihr nun hier. Mein Tipp: Schafft euch ein paar freie Morgenstunden, dreht eure Lieblingsmusik auf, und matscht drauflos. Was kann schon schiefgehen?
