Gesso what? I am a fan – Tipp für Sommerhitze

Bilinguial post – zweisprachiger Blogbeitrag

I am a proud member of a local stamp group. We meet once a month and have fun and lots of creativity. Yesterday I took a fan with me, because this summer is the hottest and most humid I can remember. I could not survive the day without my fan. A friend saw my using it and showed me hers… an ugly thing, cheap paper and printed with some advertising all over. A challenge!

During my last year of papercrafting I learned there is ONE thing, that can make your day, even if all the items you want to work with look ugly: Gesso! The magical paint will stick on every material and turns it into a smooth surface you can paint on. Another friend had some gessso, and I had some stamps and inks. This did the job for me.

First I painted the cheap paper fan with gesso and let dry. Because the gesso ruined the crisp folds of the fan I had to pleat them again after the gesso dried. Then I used StazOn and some swirl stamps to print a nice pattern, and put some color on with StazOn and a sponge. For the final touch I added a black outline with a fantastix pen from Tsukineko and black All Purpose Ink. I had to heat set the outline. Done! My friend was very pleased with her new fan. She is a fan of her fan now… *hehe*

Fertig! Bea hat es gefallen.
